Buildings and structures that have a roof that is green at least some part of the year

Planning roof meadow

Deciding which plants can grow a roof together

Though I've never been, I found out that many bus stops in Norway have meadows on their roofs. I've seen it in random spots around the world too. There is a big one in Athens, with a whole park on top of a 10 story structure containing a beautiful library. But with constraints of being a roof, what plants can grow on top of it together? Maybe there is a way to plan it using data, and produce a seed mix that grows effortlessly according to other preferences..

Using foliage as a roof

A guide to bush survival

A guide to creating structures using foliage for survival situations, or just for fun. We've seen it done in tropical locations, big leaves, etc. In Europe it is hard to imagine a good material, so what can you use instead? Should you just build under the most sprawling oak? Could save lives.

Roof growth sim

A simulation of roof freaking growing

A growing roof, on an object, that would be cool to watch. I remember walking the Dolomites in Northern Italy and seeing big rock outcrops with grass and even trees growing on top. It must have happened over many years, maybe 1000s or more. I want to see it on a statue or a house.

Pet enclosure

House with a stairway to a meadow

My tortoise Morty is almost one year old and growing. One day he will need a big enclosure, and be able to stay outside, but will I have a garden? Well, balcony is fine if the garden is growing on top of his enclosure. It takes up less space too!

Canopy growing algorithm

The equation of how the tree grows

This has been done many times, I am sure. My first project in Blender was a tree and it looked dead and not very interesting. I know better now. You can just write an algorithm that grows and branches a tree, and then maybe make it appear.

How It Was Built With AI in 2.5 Hours

1

Step 1

Implemented new skills for generating spec. It automates fetching the day's chosen idea and then asks specific questions and for confirmation of the generated spec.

2

Step 2

Asked AI to generate a 3D sim, with music, clean UI, using more than one algorithm, growth timeline, nice presets for different types of trees. I wanted beautiful canopies

3

Step 3

The trees looked boring and minimal, added random preset generation and more flexible parameters. Since there are 2 algorithms, we needed to have two sets of parameters to set. Pine needles looked too sparse and long, so that needed adjusting.

4

Fullscreen Thematic UI Experience

Added full screen, ability to hide the sim controls (they obscure the tree otherwise), and changed it from that AI slop web design into something cleaner, more thematic.

What Rocked

  • ✓AI guided itself into producing something extra beyond the boring L-system.

What Broke & Fixed

  • ✗Getting the UI away from the AI slop style took few turns, few mistakes, and very specific guidance. The UI could be more well organised and intuitive.

Key Guidance Turns:
  • Turn 2: sounds great. We don't need a database. It should be in memory. Add some nice simple music to it, maybe some open licensed natu...
  • Turn 3: I would like some nicer background, less emojis, make the style more organic, use thinner font (it looks really techy right now...
  • Turn 4: Also some options only correspond to the 3d fractal L-system, not Space colonization. I think we want to have a separate set fo...
  • Turn 5: can we make the background lighter and controls darker? I am thinking like off white interface, with more oval shaped controls ...
  • Turn 6: The controls are still black. Make them light colored. The font and accent colors should be charcoal to green
  • Turn 7: add a button to randomise the settings under Active model. The tab selection is transparent and the text is hard to see
  • Turn 8: add a full screen mode as well
  • Turn 9: looks good enough. push the changes
  • Turn 10: /record-implementation

  • Turn 12: Can you update the skill/script and the element in the UI so that we generate the AI interaction summary, rather than the trans...
  • Turn 13: can you update the AI Interaction Summary without changing anything else?
